LINDSAYLEIGH’S PUG ORIGINS
The pug is from the Queen Victoria times. The William of Orange (1689-1704) kept several as pets. Since this time the pug has been a favorite of royalty.
The pug is believed to come from the Orient and is a longer-legged smooth coated version of the Pekingese. It’s believed the name pug came from the old English word "pugnus" meaning "someone dearly loved."
The pug has almost-human expression with its large dark eyes and wrinkled forehead. The pug quickly charms its way into a multitude of hearts. It’s playful and has a wonderful disposition. It makes a great family pet and lives well in town or the country. They do shed and need regular brushing to maintain a good coat. They require minimal exercise and weight gain can be a problem if not exercised. |
